Dana
Dana Bigman is a 49-year-old native of Los Angeles who likes to hike, volunteer and also to take on challenges. Normally her hikes are leisurely 5-mile treks in the Santa Monica mountains that tend to be more social than athletic, so climbing Mt. Baldy definitely was a challenge! She signed up to be a sighted guide because it was unlike anything she had ever done and she was interested in learning how blind people cope in a sighted world. Helping the Braille Institute students summit Mt. Baldy showed her that people can overcome obstacles if they believe in their abilities and accept the help they need to achieve their goals, and she is looking forward to applying these lessons more in her own life. A former magazine editor, Dana manages marketing communications for nonprofit organizations.
